These are pictures of our Hayfork/Oregon trip in June, 2012. Hayfork, CA, was the site of a hilly bike ride I wanted to do, and Oregon was filled with checking in on friends and relatives. Of course whenever there was a brewpub handy it was paramount to have a taste.
These are pictures of our Hayfork/Oregon trip in June, 2012. Hayfork, CA, was the site of a hilly bike ride I wanted to do, and Oregon was filled with checking in on friends and relatives. Of course whenever there was a brewpub handy it was paramount to have a taste.
Hayfork is in California, west of Redding, over a couple of ridges on narrow roads. At one point we pulled out the GPS to see if we were going in the right direction. The next day it dawned in the low thirties (Fahrenhiet) and made for a cold start. I rode 70 miles with 7500 feet of elevation gain, primarily made in two long climbs. It was dry and sunny, though, and finished on a warming trend. The volunteers supporting the ride were very friendly, and the brownies they provided were outstanding. Most of the route is through National Forest with no visible inhabitants for tens of miles.
