On to Astoria to the Maritime Museum. Very sobering display of just how dangerous an area the mouth of the Columbia is, and what the pilots go through just to get to and from the ships entering harbor. We also linked up with friends Scott and Jenny and had lunch at the Wet Dog Cafe - a fun place with views of the Columbia River. It was a holiday weekend with beautiful weather; competition for getting a campsite was fierce, but Scott and Jenny expedited getting us checked into Fort Stevens State Park. They then guided us on a hike around the park.
