Hawaii, Big Island trip, September, 2014

The distance to Volcano is short, but it turned into a long drive because of traffic and an accident still clearing out.

The elevation in Volcano is 4,000ft., and it was much cooler than back in Hilo. The Volcano Inn consists of many buildings scattered around the community; our room was in the original Volcano Inn complex. The room looked out onto heavy tropical vegitation, had a cork floor (felt good on bare feet) and was very quiet.

The village of Volcano is a quiet place that has a few restaurants and a community center which alternates between being a farmer's market and a flea market.
